Biography: Jong Bhak

Jong H. Bhak is the director of KOBIC (Korean Bioinformation Center), the national bioinformatics center of Korea. He received his BSc. Honours in biochemistry (1st class) from Aberdeen University in 1994 and his Ph.D. in bioInformatics from Cambridge University in 1997. He was a group leader at MRC-DUNN, Cambridge and an associate professor at BioSystems dept. of KAIST, Korea, before to take the directorship at KOBIC.

Bhak is an advocate of openfree exchange of knowledge and information. He has proposed some openfree bio-projects under the BioLicense scheme (http://biolicense.org). He thinks human genome information should be free and free of charge to acquire (http://personalgenome.net).
